The 2026 Lexus ES Is Finally Here – Full Redesign Revealed! Lexus ES Redesigned – What’s New? The refreshed Lexus ES sedan is almost here, and it brings a mix of upgrades while staying true to its reputation for comfort and quietness. But did Lexus do everything it needed to? And how does it stand up against rivals like the Toyota Crown and Lucid? Let’s take a look. A Broader Powertrain Choice The new ES has been engineered to deliver a more relaxing and refined ride for passengers, while also improving the driving experience. Built on the updated TNGA GA-K platform, designed for both HEV and BEV models, the chassis gains significant rigidity at the front, floor, and rear. This makes the ES smoother, more stable, and sharper to steer—agile performance that feels surprising for its size. For the first time, Lexus has also added a multi-link rear suspension, paired with MacPherson struts up front, enhancing balance, grip, and overall control. Hybrid: ES 350h The ES 350h returns with more power and now offers all-wheel drive. Its sixth-generation 2.5-liter hybrid system includes an integrated eAxle, making the powertrain more compact and lightweight while boosting battery output. Reinforced rigidity also keeps vibrations in check, giving the cabin an even quieter and more premium feel. Electric: ES 350e & ES 500e For the first time, the ES lineup includes fully electric models: ES 350e (FWD) – ~300 miles of range (with 19” wheels) ES 500e (AWD) – ~250 miles of range (with 19” wheels) Both EVs use a large, floor-mounted battery that lowers the center of gravity for improved handling. The ES 500e adds Lexus’s DIRECT4 AWD system, which can shift torque from 100:0 to 0:100 between the front and rear wheels for stronger launches, improved stability, and better energy use. Charging is made practical with a NACS port for DC fast charging, along with Level 1 and Level 2 AC options. Thanks to an upgraded 11-kW onboard charger, the ES can charge efficiently at home, while DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes under ideal conditions.
